Q: I have published on a test page you can see herebelow a test with the javascript pull down menu.

With IE, it works fine, the menu is displayed over the flash animation.

With Firefox, the flash animation disappears and comes back if I mouve the mouse out of the menu.

I have read the FAQs, but I can not see any document on this. Can you help me in understanding and solving the problem ?

A: You should add opaque parameters to OBJECT and EMBED tags.

You can find more info on this issue here:

Q: I want to use a Flash icon with sound next to the menu items, is this possible?

A: Yes, you can use a flash icon in the menu items.
See how you should install your flash icon:

  var menuItems = [

["<object classid='clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000' codebase='http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0' width='50' height='50'><param name='movie' value='data.files/bullet_orange.swf'><param name='quality' value='high'><embed src='data.files/bullet_orange.swf' quality='high' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' width='50' height='50' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash'></embed></object>Home","testlink.html",""],

Q: When doing a multi-frame frameset (1 top frame, 2 bottom frames) like this:

<frameset ID="frames" ONLOAD="getBottom()" ROWS="50, *" BORDER="0" FRAMEBORDER="no" FRAMESPACING="0">
   <frame NAME="frmTop" SRC="top.htm" MARGINHEIGHT=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 SCROLLING=NO NORESIZE FRAMEBORDER="0" />
    <frameset ID="bottomFrames" cols="171,*">
     <frame name="frmLeft" src="left.htm" MARGINHEIGHT=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 SCROLLING=NO NORESIZE FRAMEBORDER="0"/>
     <frame name="frmMain" MARGINHEIGHT=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 SCROLLING=NO NORESIZEFRAMEBORDER="0" />
    </frameset>
</frameset>

And using the dm_frameinit like this:
dm_initFrame("[object]", 0, 2, 0);

it works fine in IE -> the menus are displayed exactly under the text and in the bottom right frame.

However, in Firefox, the menu drop down is displayed to the right of the top menu text, and exactly the number of pixels as the width of the left frame.

Perhaps there needs to be some FireFox checking to fix this?
Can you help me with that?

A: The problem is in a structure of your frameset.
Mozilla browsers can't determine absolute coordinates for a frame, sosubmenus drop down with an offset.

You should create the following frameset structure:

 --|------------
   | menu
 --|------------
   |
   | submenus
   |

Now a top row has 2 columns and all browsers can determine awidth of the 1st column in the second row.

Q: Thank you. I got the menu working on my web page.

Now, I have to pass dynamic value from the link when the user click the floating javascript menu.

I was using a table type of menu and passing value like this

<td onclick="document.iframename.location.href='abc.jsp?value1=<%value1%>&value2=<%value2%>Click here</td>
What should I do to the deluxe-menu to get the same action?
I need to pass value to next page. The value is dynamic, so I have to use <%value1%> notation for JSP file.

A: Actually you can use your own Javascript code instead standard links. For example:

  var menuItems = [
["text", "javascript:your_code_here"]
];

or

  var menuitems = [
["<div onClick='your_code_here'>item text</div>", ""]
];
