A: Unfortunately there is no such a function now.

There are such variables.

dtabs_tabs[menuN].b1 - dtabs_tabs[menuN].selectedItem
dtabs_tabs[menuN].JT0 - dtabs_tabs[menuN].selectedSmItem

But they contain the index of the selected menu item, not the ID.

Q: I need the sub menu to be vertical with the text on top of each other instead of horizontal way as as I have now on my website.
I have tried to change the smWidth & smHeight in the Dimension category but it shows no changes.

You should set this parameter:

var smOrientation=0;

Q: Now on IE for Windows, the menus disappear as I roll over them, though not always.
I'd say 90% of the time they fade away as my cursor crosses them.
10% they stay and I can get a good click.

On Safari, they work great.

  var smHidePause=0;

You should set, for example:
  var smShowPause=200;
  var smHidePause=1000;
