Recent Questions Componentart Treeview Javascript

Q: What I would like to see is the ability to have a base site navigation menu with all the definitional entries (size, locations, icons, etc.) defined but all the menuitems be called from an Ajax file.

A: You cannot use ajax submenus for the top items.
But you can use several .js file, for example:

params.js //file with all menu parameters (size, locations, icons, etc.)
all code before
  var menuItems = [
...
];
dm_init();

data_ajax1.js //data files for ajax submenus
data_ajax2.js
data_ajax3.js
...

main_data.js - data file with the following code:

  var menuItems = [
["Item 1","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax1.js", "", "", ],
["Item 2","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax2.js", "", "", ],
["Item 3","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax3.js", "", "", ],
["Item 4","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax4.js", "", "", ],
];
dm_init();

You can also place this code into your html page directly (in the place where you want tohave a menu):

<script type="text/javascript">
  var menuItems = [
["Item 1","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax1.js", "", "", ],
["Item 2","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax2.js", "", "", ],
["Item 3","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax3.js", "", "", ],
["Item 4","", "", "", "", "", "0", "0", "data_ajax4.js", "", "", ],
];
dm_init();

Q: I am trying to placed a separator image in between each item in my css vertical dropdown menu. I have placed the image in the seperator field and it will not display. How can I get an image to be a separator in between items on my css vertical dropdown menu?

A: To add a separator you should

//--- Separators
  var separatorImage=""; //for subitems (top items in css vertical dropdown menu)
  var separatorWidth="100%";
  var separatorHeight="3px";
  var separatorAlignment="right";
  var separatorVImage="separator.gif"; //for the top items (subitems items in css vertical dropdown menu)
  var separatorVWidth="100%";
  var separatorVHeight="2px";
  var separatorPadding="";

You can create separators using menuItems (you can do it in DeluxeTuner, use "Add separator" button), for example:

  var menuItems = [
["item 1"],
["-"], // this item is separator
["item 2"],
];

Q: I am having some difficulty dynamically adding items to a dhtml sliding menus.

A: See dtreet_ext_insertItem () function has the following parameters:

function dtreet_ext_insertItem (menuInd, parentItemID, itemInd, itemParams)

Creates a new item and inserts it into a specified position.
menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0.
parentItemID - ID property of an item.<, >= 0.
itemInd - index of a new item within the menu, >= 0.
itemParams - item parameters.

Notice that parentItemID is the Id property of the parent item
(notindex). If you want to add top items you should set parentItemID=0.

itemInd - you should use this parameter if you want to add item in the
specific place, for example set itemInd=5 if you want to add item
before the existing item with itemInd=5.
If you set itemInd=null the new item will be added at the end of this submenu and its index will be added automatically.

Q: I want to use single css drop down menu bar for each page without applying HTML Code for each page separatly.I mean to use CSS Menu as per our .JS Menu.

A: Unfortunately it is not possible with css menu.

On each page you should call css file with styles:

<link href="menu.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

and add code for the menu on each page in the place where you want to have a menu, forexample:

<ul class="cssMenu cssMenum">
<li class=" cssMenui"><a class=" cssMenui" href="testlink.html">Home</a></li>
<li class=" cssMenui"><a class=" cssMenui" href="#"><span><img class="def" src="default.files/icon1.gif"/>
<img class="over" src="default.files/icon1o.gif">Product Info</span>
<![if gt IE 6]></a><![endif]><!--[if lte IE 6]><table><tr><td><![endif]-->
<ul class=" cssMenum">
<li class=" cssMenui"><a class=" cssMenui" href="testlink.html"><img class="def" src="default.files/icon2.gif"/>
<img class="over" src="default.files/icon2o.gif">Features</a></li>
</ul>
<!--[if lte IE 6]></td></tr></table></a><![endif]-->lt;/li>
<li class=" cssMenui"><a class=" cssMenui" href="testlink.htm">
<img class="def" src="default.files/icon1.gif"/>
<img class="over" src="default.files/icon1o.gif">Contact Us</a></li>
</ul>

You can also try to use frames.
Also you can use aserver-side script (php, asp, vb, etc.) to generate html pages fromtemplates on your server.
