What I would like to do is make the sub items ("New Sample 1" - "New Sample 5") display when the user clicks "Sample Block 1", rather than having to click the little + sign next to it.

Q: Both arrow types are visible when my intranet first loads and when I select a top item that is a direct link to a page.

These parameters allow to make images and links paths absolute.
For example:

So, link path will be look so:
http://domain.com/pages/index.html
Images paths will be look so:
http://domain.com/images/icon1.gif
http://domain.com/images/icon2.gif
Please, try to use these parameters.Q: I have already tried this exact same method, using and alternate "itemBackColor" and this is not what I needed. As you can see in your example putting in an item back color only give you a different bg color on the item itself, but the BG of the menu around it remains the same. In your example the lighter bg color of my menu is surrounding the item bg color making this look more like a mistake and poor design.
It do use the item bg color for the rollover in my menu, as you can see, but implementing this does not give me what I need. I need the BG color behind this item to be completely flush with the sides of the menu.
I had already checked the menu system thoroughly before contacting you and I was well aware of the option.. but as you can see this is not the solution. It is very important to me that this looks perfect, and what I need is not built into this menu by default.. I need another solution.
A: You should set the following parameter:
var itemSpacing=0;
You can also try to paste separators between items.
Q: I am using the tree menu script in a frameset, and I would like for the selected menu branch to stay highlighted after the user moves the mouse to another window(where the menu brings up a new page),just so the user knows where he/she is.
Is that possible?
A: But if you open links in the another frame (window) the initial frame with your menu isnot reloaded, so the clicked item will be highlighted.

If you install the menu without frames. On your pages you should call the following function/functions to expand/highlight items, for example:
