Recent Questions Jsptree Renderer

Q: Is it possible set a menu item to pressed when a page is loaded when you have multiple drop down menus on the page?

I have 2 menus side by side and I was able to set the pressed item with the JavaScript API as described in your FAQs but when I try to show an item as pressed  in a second menu on the same page, the corresponding item in the first menu shows as pressed. Is there a different function that I can use for this or a way to reset the menu ID in the second menu to start from where the first menu left off so I can use the same function?

A: See the first parameter in
dm_ext_setPressedItem (menuInd, submenuInd, itemInd, recursion)
function is index of the menu.

So, if you use several menus on the one page you should use differentmenuInd parameter.

For example you have:

<script type="text/javascript" src="menu/data1.js"></script> //menuInd=0
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu/data2.js"></script> //menuInd=1
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu/data3.js"></script> //menuInd=2
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu/data4.js"></script> //menuInd=3

So, for the second menu you should write:

dm_ext_setPressedItem (1, 2, 5)

Q: Thanks for swift reply, however:
Tried the dmenu.js (only one we use) at our trial site and get the error :
Line 13
Invalid argument

- as you know this js file is obfuscated to one line, so using a debugger does not apply.

A: See the attached example. I've upgraded your javascript layer menu to JavaScript Tree Menu v3.0.
use data file and engine files from the attachment.

You had several errors in the structure of menuItems.

It is not correct to write

 ["| Contact us","http://www.imarex.com/home/contact_us","","","","","8","","",],
   ["||| Energy team","http://www.imarex.com/home/contact_us/energy_team","","","","","8","","",],

You should write:
 ["| Contact us","http://www.imarex.com/home/contact_us","","","","","8","","",],
   ["|| Energy team","http://www.imarex.com/home/contact_us/energy_team","","","","","8","","",],

Q: How would I use the submenu feature to display itself only if a person is logged in. such as if a person logged in then the member area would expand, else it would always stay closed with only the login username section showing?

A: Unfortunately it is not possible. You can only add items depending onthe logged user.

You should use API functions:
see more info:
http://deluxe-menu.com/functions-info.html
For example, you can use:
function dtreet_ext_insertItem (menuInd, parentItemID, itemInd, itemParams)
function dtreet_ext_deleteItem (menuInd, itemID)
function dtreet_ext_showItem (itemID, visibility)
function dtreet_ext_expandItem (itemID, expand)

Q: Can you tell me the difference between a target and a link.

Also can you explain what self, blank, top, parent, search and custom mean in the javascript menu table please.

A: Link is the url you want to open when you click on the javascript menu table item.

Target controls where you'll open your link:
"_self" - open link in the same window
"_blank" - open link in the new window
"_parent" - will load the linked document where the inner frameset file had been
"_top" - loads the linked document in the topmost frame
custom - you should write here the name of the frame where you want to
open the linked document, for example:
"framename"
"_search" - this target causes the link to load in the browser's Search pane. (Internet Explorer 5.0 and later.)
